The second running of the Igloo Sportive is based from Chesterfield with riding in and around the Eastern Moors of the Peak District National Park on predominantly quiet roads and lanes i.e. we avoid busy main roads wherever possible!
Route options: long 130km with 2400m of climb and the shorter route of 65km with 1350m of climb. The long loop initially heads northwards and passes on the western fringes of Sheffield and climbs over Hallam Moors to Bradfield thereafter it drops into the Hope Valley followed by some stunning riding through Eyam (the plague village) and Chatsworth Park before climbing the fearsome Rowsley Bar onto the Eastern Moors proper. The shorter route initially follows the long route but then heads directly across to Eyam and Chatsworth.
Igloo Cycles, Chesterfield will be in attendance before the event for technical assistance etc – contact them beforehand on 01246 272272 with any requirements you may have.
**ROUTE REVISED** Please note the short route has had to be revised. The new route, please see below, now loops to Abney and Great Hucklow due to the road closure of New Road between Grindleford and Eyam. The short route now takes a more direct route back from the final feedstation to the finish.
