Due to a clash with two other Cheshire based cycling events on the same day as the Spa/Tommo (which unfortunately we have only recently become aware of) we have taken the initiative to change the first part of the Spa/Tommo route. This has been done principally with rider safety in mind as well as avoiding the distinct possibility of signage ‘confusion’ in various key places on the route as the last thing anybody wants is to get lost!
It has been a tad inconvenient to have to make these route changes at such a late stage and we apologise for this but we have worked very hard to ensure that the overall ride quality has not been compromised – basically the initial part of all the routes in Cheshire have now been switched back to the Peak District and a new overview map showing all three revised routes can be seen here for more information on routes including embed RidewithGPS maps go to the Buxton Spa page
Revised Buxton Spa Road BookHighlights of the revised route now include:
- An easier roll out from Buxton to get the legs working ‘properly’.
- The addition of an extra feed station at the southern end of the long route.
- An overall, more condensed ‘figure of 8’ route using the easily accessible feed station at Warslow Village Hall twice.
- New climbs to tackle i.e. Sheen Moor (all routes); Douse Lane/Bradnop (medium route – ouch!); Morridge (all routes – a classic Peak District climb as used on the Tour of Britain).
