Start Location
Lady Manners School, Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1JA – Click here for map
Parking
Look out for our black & yellow event signs on the day close to Lady Manner’s School in Bakewell – there is plenty of parking at the event centre, when it is full you should park on-street nearby. NB if/when parking on-street please park sensibly not blocking drives/roads etc and if you arrive early keep any noise down so as not to disturb local residents.
Registration
Opens at 7:00am – there is always a queue at registration so please be patient, we’ll get you signed in and ready to go as soon as we can!
Start/finish times
The start window is 7.45am – 9.30am and you can start at anytime in this period. Long riders: we strongly advise that you start before 8.30am so as to reach the cut off times at the feed stations. NB the finish closes at 6.30pm PROMPT!!
Cut off Times
Litton (all riders) – 11:30am
Edale (long) 1:15pm
Derbyshire Bridge (long & med) 3:30pm
Flash (long) 5:00pm
Edale checkpoint (Edale village hall) – long route only
Riders must turn right off the road into Edale car park (easy to spot at the side of the road – look out for the event sign). If you start the Mam Nick climb before reaching a feed-station you have gone too far!
Feed-stations
We have comprehensive Beat the Bonk feed-stations on all routes, however PLEASE TAKE ITEMS RESPONSIBLY to ensure that there is sufficient for ALL COMPETITORS. Those seen to be abusing the provisions may be reported and excluded from the event.
Goyt Valley
This road is closed to motorised traffic – cyclists and pedestrians are permitted – the road from Errwood Reservoir to Derbyshire Bridge will be closed to motorised traffic from 11am onwards on Sunday. If you arrive after 11am the gate will be shut but you can get around the edge of the gate on foot. Please do not follow the car traffic across the dam wall/reservoir otherwise you’ll end up way off route….
Course signage
All the courses will be comprehensively and clearly marked using signs showing light blue arrows on a bright yellow background. The points where the routes split will also be clearly marked/signed. If for any reason you ‘run out’ of course arrows then it is highly likely you have gone off the course – PLEASE DO NOT ride on blindly hoping to find more arrows as you will undoubtedly get yourself even more lost. Backtrack to where you last saw an arrow as well as checking the provided map for guidance.
Ride sensibly
PLEASE when out on the course ride sensibly and with due consideration to all other road users – this event is NOT A RACE! Ride in single file particularly on narrow lanes. Watch out for horses & riders and ALWAYS give warning of your approach, we get complaints about this year after year. COMMON SENSE AND COURTESY AT ALL TIMES!!
Lights/bright clothing
We strongly suggest you bring front & back lights particularly if it’s cloudy/overcast. Also we recommend wearing bright coloured clothing. Basically the more visible you are to other road users the better.
Beware of thieves
LOCK YOUR BIKES UP – please lock your bike if you leave it anywhere particularly in and around the start venue.
