Spring MTB Marathon
Hope/North Derbyshire – 12/4/15 – Event Report
After nearly a week of beautiful sunny and warm weather it was almost inevitable that the day of the “Spring” MTB Marathon would revert back to something approaching the recent winter conditions! It was obvious by the early queue at registration that riders were keen to get away and back before the ‘ugly’ weather arrived and bang on cue mid-afternoon we go the lot: hail, sleet, heavy rain, very strong gusts of wind and significant wind chill. It all added to the challenge of the event but for those who were somewhat unprepared it all came as a bit of a shock!
From your comments at the finish we think we got the route and the challenge about right, we did our best to pack in as much off-road as we could – we would have liked to have included a loop in the Edale Valley but it would have clashed with another biking/running event which was happening so it would have caused too many problems.
We’ll be putting another MTB Marathon on later in the year in and around the Buxton area – keep an eye on the site for more event details.
